Minister Ramsay presented the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s main estimates today. The total of $67,541,000 includes funding for the safe, secure, and efficient regulation of the exploration, development, production, and transportation of petroleum and mineral resources. Staff will administer mineral and petroleum royalties, conduct economic analysis, provide support and advice to entrepreneurs, negotiate and monitor socio-economic agreements, and much more.
Bill C-15, the Northwest Territories Devolution Act, was introduced by the federal Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada to Parliament on December 3, 2013. This bill amends federal legislation and creates a new Northwest Territories Act with the changes that are needed to implement the Devolution Agreement.
